Ed Durrant is a well-traveled Amateur / Ham Radio operator originally hailing from Yorkshire in England.

Licensed as G8GLM in 1974 in the UK, Ed re-joined the hobby, after a 35 year break, in Australia where he was licensed as VK2ARE (Amateur Radio Enthusiast), replacing this call later with VK2JI.

Ed enjoys the Summits of the Air (SOTA) award scheme and is a proactive chaser and activator.

In 2013, whilst in Australia, Ed organised and ran the first and so far only Australian Contest University.

in 2014 Ed returned to his wife’s homeland of Germany, and now operates using the callsign DD5LP from a country village about one hours drive out of Munich in Bavaria.
